2nd Day, Lisbon
Sightseeing tour of the Portuguese capital Lisbon during which we will discover the city‘s different quarters: the ancient Moorish quarter Mouraría, the medieval part of town, Alfama (the only quarter that was not harmed by the famous earthquake of 1755)-, Saint George’s Castle with a spectacular view over the city and the Atlantic Ocean, the quarters of Baixa and Bairro Alto - with the famous elevator Ascensor de Santa Justa which connects the Baixa with the Chiado- and the Basílica da Estrela and the Pombal Square. 3rd Day, Lisbon – Atlantic Ocean - Fátima
Visit of the famous Monastery of San Jerónimo, an example of the architectural style prevalent in Portugal during the reign of Manuel I and the emblematic fortress Tower of Belem facing the Atlantic Ocean. Our trip leads us via Estoril and Cascais to the beautiful city of Sintra. In the afternoon we continue our journey towards the medieval city of Óbidos and the picturesque fishing village Nazaré. Our last stop will take place at the impressive Monastery of Santa María da Vitoria in Batalha before we arrive at Fátima. Overnight Fátima
4th Day, Fátima
After breakfast we have the opportunity to do the Via Crucis, a beautiful path that was built by Hungarian refugees in 1956 amidst olive ande eucalyptus trees. Afterwards we will visit the houses of the shepherd children Jacinto and Luisa. We will enjoy a visit of the basilica and the village of Ajustrel, the home of the children seers. Back in Fátima, we have the opportunity to attend Mass in the Apparition Chapel. After dinner we take part in the Candle Procession. Overnight stay in Fátima
5th Day, Fátima – Salamanca
In the morning we part towards the Spanish border. We visit the lovely medieval town Ciudad Rodrigo before we arrive in Salamanca, World Heritage City and European Capital of Culture of the year 2002. The city impresses us with its emblematic buildings made of golden stone, its marvellous works of art, its rich cultural life. The finest square (Plaza Mayor) and the oldest university of Spain, the House of Shells (Casa de las Conchas), the patio of the Minor Schools), the Old and the New Cathedral), the Convent of St. Stephen, the Roman Bridge, the art-deco museum of the House of Lys (Casa Lys): an endless list of surprises which we will enjoy during our first day in Spain. 6th Day, Salamanca – Valladolid – Burgos
After breakfast we part towards Valladolid where we enjoy a sightseeing tour of the city including the National Museum of Sculpture with the most beautiful examples of sacral wood sculptures. We go on towards Burgos, emblematic city of the Pilgrim‘s Way to Santiago de Compostela. We visit the impressive Gothic cathedral and the old town. Overnight stay in Burgos
7th Day, Burgos - Lourdes
On our route of today, we discover the Basque Country including a stop in San Sebastián where we enjoy the regional cuisine. In the late afternoon and after having traversed the Pyrenees, we reach the Holy place of Lourdes. Overnight stay in Lourdes
8th Day, Lourdes
In the morning we salute Saint Mary attending to the eucharist mass in the grotto of the Apparitions and visit the great basilica of Lourdes. In the afternoon we take part in the procession with blessing of the sick.. At night Via Crucis with candles. Overnight stay in Lourdes
