Day 1, Sunday
Arrive Santiago International airport. Reception by Anglatin. Transfer to hotel. Free time. Group lunch at hotel. Guided community walk to learn about the supermarket, currency exchange, pharmacy, department store, postal service, internet café, and other services. Guided city tour including the Plaza de Armas, La Moneda, Cerro San Cristóbal, residential neighborhoods and a special hand crafts exhibition. Welcome group dinner at Santiago’s most famous seafood restaurant. Overnight Santiago

Day 2, Monday
Buffet breakfast. Workshop with directors of Chile’s largest farmer’s market. Guided tour of this lively market which brings fresh produce from all parts of Chile and supplies 85 percent of the Metropolitan area’s needs. Group lunch. Guided tour of one of the Maipo Valley’s most famous wineries.  Depart to Talagante, in the central valley. Visit apple, peach, plum, cherry farm and tour the on-farm packing plant. Meet with farm and plant workers. Interview owner. Return to Santiago. Dinner at night club, including folk music, folk dancing and typical Chilean cuisine. Overnight Santiago

Day 3, Tuesday
Buffet breakfast. Workshop with representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture. Overview of Chilean agriculture, rural policy and programs. Group lunch. Depart to Cajon de Maipo. Meet with village administrators and talk about rural life, services and development. Tour family cooperative. Interview cooperative members. Return to Santiago. Free time. Overnight Santiago

Day 4, Wednesday
Buffet breakfast. Depart to the Curacaví valley. Visit rural agricultural technical school in Curacaví. Interview the director and students. Visit rural primary school. Interview school administrator. Group lunch at traditional hostería. Depart to the Casablanca valley. Visit rural clinic in the village of Casablanca. Meet with medical staff. Depart to Viña del Mar. Guided tour of Valparaiso, Chile’s most important port and only “Heritage for Humanity” monument. Guided tour of Viña del Mar, the “Garden City” and most famous beach resort. Check-in at beach-side hotel. Free evening. Overnight Viña del Mar

Day 5, Thursday
Buffet breakfast. Free morning to explore the museums, beaches and shops, all within walking distance. Group lunch at seaside seafood restaurant. Meet with municipal representative, a local land owner and a developer. Depart to the Aconcagua valley. Tour avocado packing plant. Interview manager. Interview plant workers about their work, benefits and quality of life issues. Continue to Santiago’s international airport. Flight to Buenos Aires. Transfer to hotel. Group dinner in hotel. Overnight Buenos Aires


Rural Chilean Casona

Day 6, Friday
Buffet breakfast. Visit Liniers Livestock Market, located within the city limits. Watch as  8 to 12 thousand head of cattle are sold daily for processing in the abattoirs around the city. Group lunch. Visit US embassy. Interview with agriculture and commercial attaché. Free evening. Overnight Buenos Aires

Day 7, Saturday
Buffet breakfast. City tour including the Palermo and Barrio Norte districts, with the expensive houses and classic architecture; La Boca and San Telmo, the old part of the city , with its flea markets; the recycled area of Puerto Madero, old warehouses which were converted into fancy offices, restaurants and cinemas; Recoleta, including the cemetery and Eva Peron’s mausoleum; the Plaza de Mayo, to take a look at the Cabildo (municipal building during the colonies and now a museum), the Casa Rosada (home of the Executive). Group lunch during the city tour. Free time in the afternoon. Hotel is next to shopping street. Evening tango show with dinner. Overnight Buenos Aires

Day 8, Sunday
Buffet breakfast. Depart via bus to Rosario, in the heart of the Pampas. Touristic stops en route. Group dinner. Overnight Rosario

Day 9, Monday
Buffet breakfast. Depart to Agriculture Ministry research station. Seminar on Argentine agriculture including agriculture’s role in rural life. Visit typical family farm in region (grain and livestock). Interview family and learn about quality of life issues. Return to Rosario for group lunch. Interview of Port manager invited and tour of the port and export facilities. Visit community hospital and interview administrator. Free evening. Overnight Rosario

Day 10, Tuesday
Buffet breakfast. Depart to Santa Fe. Meet with administrators of the largest dairy cooperative in Argentina. Discuss rapid changes in agriculture production and structure.  Guided tour of cooperative facility. Group lunch with community leaders. Tour family size dairy and interview family. Visit soybean farm and interview owner. Return to Santa Fe. Free evening.

Day 11, Wednesday
Buffet breakfast. Transfer via bus to Buenos Aires international airport. Touristic stops en-route. Connect to outbound flights
