Concha y Toro, Cousiño Macul, Santa Rita and Errázuriz
The Maipo Valley is the home of the pioneer winemakers in Chile. This is the oldest and most prestigious wine-produciong region. Up against the towering Andes and filled with tall poplar trees and small vineyards, it feels like northern Italy. The wonderful estates of Concha & Toro and Cousiño Macul evoke memories of the glorious days when international aristicracy visiting the elite of Santiago were wined and dined by proud and newly wealthy vintners. Concha & Toro remains the largest winery in Chile, while Santa Rita, which now owns Santa Carolina, is close behind in production.
Aconcagua Valley is a sub-region of the Aconcagua zone and is similar to California's San Joaquin Valley. Errazuriz is more than 400 years old and , during the 19th century its 2.400 acres of vineyards made it the largest estate winery in the world. It is still one of the Chile's major wineries and is in partnetship with Mondavi.
