Our tour starts with an excellent overview of French forestry, given by representatives of the Private Forestry Association, and the Federation of Woodland Owners. We depart immediately for a visit to the famous Fontainbleau forest where a French Forest Office official explains their reforestation process. Our travel to Strasbourg takes us through beautiful rolling farm and forest land. Strasbourg’s old historic district, la “Petite France”, and a river cruise endears us to this unique city. In the evening we enjoy an Alsacian dinner at the winery, with music and wine sampling. Overnight, Strasbourg

The director of the Private Woodland Owners Cooperative tells us about their prescribed forest management practices. Later, we talk with the owners as we walk through their woodlands. Finally, Europe’s largest sawmill opens its door to us for a comprehensive tour. Overnight, Strausbourg

Today we depart to Switzerland and meet with Jura Hills forest owners. Visits to local woodlands are included as we learn about forest management and challenges. In the evening we enjoy a special dinner in Berne’s city center. Overnight, Berne

During our visit to Berne’s famous forestry school we see unique uses of wood in school structures. Our tour of Canton Berne takes us through picture postcard valley and
