Texas is cowboy country. But it is much more. It is space travel, commercial fishing, cotton fields, country music and mighty friendly people. Become intimate with the hill country, high plains, modern cities, and the subtropical coast. Ride horseback on the open range, learn from agriculture experts, sip coffee with farm families and business leaders, and meander through Texas gardens.

Day 1, Sunday
Arrive Houston. Reception by Anglatin Ltd.® Transfer to hotel. Evening group dinner and orientation. Overnight, Houston

Day 2, Monday
Breakfast in hotel. Tour of the Johnson Space Center, operated by the National Space and Aeronautics Administration. Visit downtown Houston. Group lunch. Travel through rice and cotton fields into the rolling hill country. Tour a horse breeding ranch and see how the horses are trained. Continue to Austin, the Capital city of Texas. Overnight Austin

Day 3, Tuesday
Breakfast in hotel. Guided tour of Austin with emphasis on the lively history of the state. Tour the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower center which includes a wide range of Texas flora and fauna. Group lunch at the Wildflower center. Cruise the Colorado river (of Texas) viewing the wildlife, parks and other scenery. In the evening, group dinner and dancing at a popular Cowboy dancing club. Overnight Austin

Day 4, Wednesday
Breakfast in hotel. Depart to Abeline, passing from the hill country into the high plains. Tour typical Texas cattle ranch including opportunity to ride and round-up cattle. Interview owner. Barbeque at ranch. Visit Buffalo Gap historic village and see how the pioneers lived in the days of the “Wild West”. Meet with livestock researchers and discuss beef, horse and sheep management and production. In the evening, visit local saloon and enjoy home grown cowboy music. Overnight Abeline

Day 5, Thursday
Breakfast in hotel. Depart to Stephenville. Tour modern milk processing plant and talk with plant manager. Visit family dairy and talk with owner. Group lunch. Tour cattle finishing operation and interfiew manager. Depart to Waco. Tour of the Texas Farm Bureau Federation headquarters. Workshop with Farm Bureau Federation experts covering the Bureau and Texas agriculture. Overnight Waco


American Cowboy

Day 6, Friday
Group Breakfast in hotel. Depart to College Station, home of Texas Agricultural and Mechanical College. Walking tour of campus. Tour a cattle ranch which features wildlife preservation and sport hunting. Group lunch at the ranch. Tour an agricultural cooperative, including farm supply store, grain elevator and feed mill. Evening dinner with Agriculture Economics faculty. Informal discussion of the economics of Texas agriculture. Overnight College Station

Day 7, Saturday
Breakfast in hotel. Visit a large commercial poultry farm. Talk with manager. Tour a corn / soybean / cotton farm and meet owner. Group lunch. Return to the University to participate in a college sporting event (football, track or soccer depending on the season). Free evening. Overnight College Station

Day 8, Sunday
Breakfast in hotel. Depart to Galveston. Free afternoon at Stewart Beach park including the Texas Seaport Museum and the Bishop’s Palace. This park is on the Gulf of Mexico with wide beaches and warm water. Overnight Houston.

Day 9, Monday
Breakfast in hotel. Depart to Freeport. Tour shrimp processing plant. Talk with plant manager. Walking tour of the docks and interviews with the commercial fishermen. Seafood lunch. Return to Houston and visit a major shopping center. Free time to browse. Farewell dinner. Overnight Houston

Day 10, Tuesday
Breakfast in hotel. Transfer to airport. Connect to flights home.
