Archeological Tour to Chile and Perú

Join us in the Archeological Capitals of South America, Peru and Chile. This tour begins in Caral, the most recently discovered Inca archeological site in Peru and continues to Cusco and Machu Picchu. In Santiago, Chile we discover the Museum of Pre-Columbian and then Depart to San Pedro of Atacama. This region is knows as the archeological capital of Chile. There are many sites with evidence of human activity from 9000BC. This Nine day tour also includes abundant cultural experiences, spectacular natural sites and abundant flora and fauna.

Day 1
Arrive to Lima from the States. Welcome Dinner at Hotel. Overnight Lima

Day 2
Buffet breakfast. Full Day excursion to Caral, the oldest city in America (between 2627 and 2100 BC approximately), located 200 km. north  of  Lima. In Caral we will visit the abundant archaeological sites, including the Pyramids, temples and several ancient residential sectors. Box lunch included. Transfer to Sheraton Lima Hotel. Overnight Lima

Day 3
Buffet breakfast.Transfer to Domestic Airport in Lima, take flight to Cusco. City tour of Cusco and its famous archeological ruins and the amazing  colonial  city built on the foundations of  the Inca palaces.  You will visit the Koricancha or Temple of the Sun, where you can appreciate the incredible masonry of the Incas, the Plaza de Armas and the Cathedral with its carved woodworks, altars and paintings.  Then you will be driven to the Inca fortress of Sacsahuamán, to the underground cave and temple of Kenko and to Tambomachay, known as the Baths of The Inca. Return to the Hotel. Overnight Cuzco.

Day 4
Buffet breakfast. Full Day Excursion to Machu Picchu. Our train takes us through the sacred valley of Urubamba to the "Lost City of the Incas," Machu Picchu. Perched 8,200 feet above the valley, it was hidden by mountains and semi-tropical jungles for 400 years until discovered in 1911. Archaeologists believe that the Inca "Virgins of the Sun" took refuge from the Spanish Conquistadors here. Guided tour of the ruins upon arrival. Lunch in Machu Picchu. In the afternoon return to Cusco. Overnight Cuzco.

Day 5
Buffet breakfast. Fly to Lima. Lunch in the Airport. Flight to Santiago. Overnight Santiago.

Day 6
Buffet Breakfast. Morning Free. After lunch, a Santiago City tour including the Museum or Pre-Columbian Art. Dinner with Folkloric Music. Overnight Santiago.

Day 7 
Morning departure to Calama.  Transfer to hotel in San Pedro de Atacama. En route we will make a short stop at English View Point, where we will look at the Great Atacama Salar and the Andes Mountain Range.  Arrival to San Pedro and check in at hotel. Lunch iin San Pedro de Atacama. Excursion to the Salt Mountain Range, visiting Moon and Mars Valleys. These mountains were formed by successive folds from the bottom of an ancient lake and eroded into small and pointed hills. After a short hike we arrive the top of a great sand dune and savor a spectacular sunset that will paint the mountains many different colors. Transfer at hotel in San Pedro de Atacama. Overnight San Pedro de Atacama

Day 8
Morning Excursion to great  Atacama Salar including the Flamingoes National Reserve, the Chaxa lagoon,  Toconao town and the Sejar Lagoon. Atacama's great salt plain  concentrates 40 % of the reserve of lithium on the planet. It is located between the The Andes Mountain Range and Domeyko's Mountain Range at 2000 meters above sea level. There are many lagoons such as Chaxa and Barros Negros, which are important flamingo nesting.  Buffet lunch at Sejar Lagoon. Following lunch, we take relaxing a dip in Sejar lagoon. At night the Mars Valley we visit an Astronomical Observatory and gaze at the stall filled soutner skies. Also included is a wine tasting and a typical highland meal, composed of soup made with local ingredients of the area. Transfer to hotel in San Pedro de Atacama. Overnight San Pedro de Atacama.

Day 9
In the early morning we take our excursion to Tatio’s Geysers,  located at  4300 above sea level. This is a Geothermal zone located in The Andes Mountain Range, surrounded with beautiful mountains, with a sunrise that lights the geysers and white hot mud craters. Buffet Breakfast at the Geysers. Then se swim in the Puritama Hot Bath. Lunch in San Pedro de Atacama. After Lunch we have an Archaeological Tour of  San Pedro de Atacama and surroundings, including the Quitor Pukara, Tulor’s town, and Padre Le Peige Archaeological Museum. The Padre Le Peige Museum has great ceramics and mummy collections from the Atacama region. That’s why San Pedro de Atacama is considered as The Archaeological Capital of Chile. We also visit the Quitor Pucara, a mud and stone fortress building, located on hillside, which was used by the native people  to defend  themselves from enemies attacks. The Tulor’s village is the most ancient village of the zone. Transfer to hotel in San Pedro de Atacama. Overnight San Pedro de Atacama.

Day 10
Morning departure to Calama. Arrive Santiago Airport, connect with another destination in South America or the States
