Beakfast in hotel. Workshop with North Carolina State University forestry faculty covering genetics, silviculture, wood products and marketing. Tour of the Schenk research forest. Picnic lunch in the forest. Visit to the the Hill Forest. Interview with forest engineer. Dinner featuring southern cooking.

Day 3, Tuesday
Breakfast in hotel. Depart to High Point, the center of wood furniture manufacturing in the United States. Tour of American Impressions furniture factory. Interview with owner and plant manager. Tour of the furniture musuem. Group lunch in High Point. Visit to three furniture showrooms in area of hotel. Group dinner.

Day 4, Wednesday
Breakfast in hotel. Tour of the Thomasville Furniture plant. Interview with owner. Depart to Hickory. Group lunch. Visit the Bent Creek research forest. Interview forest engineer. Continue to Asheville. Free evening to enjoy this mountain resort.

Day 5, Thursday
Breakfast in hotel. Visit the WNC Pallet manufacturing company. Interview owner. Tour mobile home construction facility. Interview plant manager. Group lunch. Visit housing construction site and talk with carpenters working on the houses. Tour Columbia Forest Products Company, manufacturer of panels, MDF, plywood and other finish products. Enjoy barbeque at the factory with factory workers and company friends. Overnight Asheville
Day 6, Friday
Breakfast and check-out. Depart to Columbia, South Carolina. Workshop with South Carolina Forestry Commission at Forest Education Center. Tour the demonstration forest. Picnic lunch at education center. Tour Southland Log Homes site. Interview with owner. Visit Millican forests, one of the best managed softwood forests in the state. Interview consulting forest managers. Group dinner in hotel. Overnight Columbia
