Day 1
Arrive Sao Paulo. Reception by Anglatin hosts. Transfer to hotel in Sao Paulo, Brazil’s largest city and most important commerical center. Guided city tour including the cathedral, trade center, municipal theater, suburbs, Paulista Avenue, Ibirapuera Park, Government Assembly and the Japanese suburbs. Evening free to enjoy the restaurants, bars and shops in the hotel neighborhood. Overnight Sao Paulo

Day 2
Breakfast at hotel. Workshop with the Sao Paulo Agricultural Federation, the most important agricultural policy group in the state. Discuss agriculture policies, marketing and trade. Tour Brazil’s largest vegetable and flower market and see 10000 tons of produce and flowers change hands. Free time to interview sellers, buyers and managers. Learn how the market works and the benefits to participants. Transfer to Campinas passing through rich agricultural lands producing oranges, sugar cane, coffee, cereals and livestock. Free evening to check out the local shopping center, and restaurants.Overnight Campinas

Day 3
Breakfast at hotel. Visit to the Agriculture Secretariat of Sao Paulo State. Workshop on animal disease control, animal sanitation, livestock regulations, fruit and vegetable sanitary controls, and market requirements. Visit the Agua Branca hog farm, the largest in the state. Interview management regarding nutrition, sanitation, breeding, feeding, meat processing, packaging, marketing, costs and returns. Continue to Ribeirao Preto, center of sugar and ethanol production. Free evening to explore this colorful agricultural and commercial center. Overnight Ribeirao Preto

Day 4
Breakfast at hotel. Comprehensive tour of the area’s major sugar and ethanol plant. Interview management about their technology, and Brazil’s role in producing 38 percent of the world’s sugar and 16 billion liters of ethanol. Continue to Barretos, the Texas of Brazil and beef cattle center. Visit the Sao Pedro Ranch, a large cow-calf and finishing operation. Interview manager about breeding, feeding, pasture management, and bull selection. Free evening in Barretos. Overnight Barreton.


Technical Group in a Brazilian Field

Day 5
Depart via the Orange Road, passing miles of orange groves. Visit a leading orange grower, who also breeds champion horses. Interview owner about management of his 85,000 orange trees and 250,000 box production. Inspect the Brazilian elite horse breed, Manga Larga. Continue to the State of Parana, the fourth largest grain growing state in Brazil. Free evening to get to know folks in the hotel neighborhood.Overnight Cambe

Day 6
Continue through Parana to Maringa. Visit the modern cooperative COCAMAR. Talk with the director and members about their success in producing top quality vegetable oils, roasted coffee, fruit juices and silk. This cooperative also sells to members seeds, fertilizers, fuel, machinery and other inputs. Visit COAMO, one of the top grain cooperatives in Brazil. This cooperative serves farmers producing soybeans, peanuts, wheat and black beans produced on more than four million hectares.Overnight Campo Maurao

Day 7
Depart to Ceu Azul city. Visit the 1100 hectare, 310 cow Iguaçu dairy farm. Interview management about their high technology system, their market and profitability. Continue to Iguaçu Falls, one of the great wonders of South America. Check-in hotel in the city of Iguaçu Falls. Free evening to stroll the lively streets and enjoy other visitors from all over the world. Overnight Iguaçu

Day 8
Visit the Itaipu hydroelectric power plant, supplying 25 percent of Brazil’s and 90 percent of Paraguay’s power. Complete tour of the facility including a video presentation. Visit the Iguassu Falls National Park, including a four wheel drive guided safari, and an excursion in a powered rubber dinghy under the falls and into the “Devil’s Throat”. In the evening, enjoy special Brazilian cuisine and latin music show with dancing into the late hours. Overnight Iguaçu

Day 9
