Join Fred for 10 days of fun, adventure, and discovery. Savor national cuisine. Learn about local culture, traditions, politics, nature, geography, and history. Get close to the land and the people. Anglatin’s eleven day tour to Argentina and Brazil departs February 24, 2008. This is our 41st to this part of the world, and promises to be the best.

Day 1
Arrive Buenos Aires international airport, between 0700 and 1100. Greetings by Anglatin Ltd. Transfer to hotel in Retiro District. Free time to explore the shops, museums, parks and other city attractions. Overnight Buenos Aires

Day 2
Breakfast at hotel. Comprehensive guided tour of Buenos aires and its unique barrios, including Recoleta, Eva Peron’s tomb, and La Boca. Wine workshop. Free afternoon and evening. Visit barrios, shops and museums. In the evening, enjoy a tango show with dinner. Overnight Buenos Aires

Day 3
Breakfast at hotel. Excursion into the extensive grasslands know as the Pampas. Visit a lively and colorful estancia. Savor famous Argentine parillada, enjoy the gaucho skills demonstration, and explore the ranch on horseback. Return to hotel for a relaxing evening. Overnight Buenos Aires

Day 4
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to airport. Flight to Iguassu Falls, Argentine side. Transfer to hotel and check-in. Group lunch. Continue to Iguassu National Park and the three kilometer trail through the forest. Our bi-lingual guide shows us the flora and fauna. Board powered rubber boat and climb the river to the “devil’s throat”. Evening group dinner
includes Latin music and a dance show. Overnight Iguassu Falls

Day 5
Breakfast at hotel. Visit Itaipu hydroelectric power plant which generates 25 percent of Brazil’s power and 90 percent of Paraguay’s power. Transfer to Iguassu airport and take flight to Rio de Janeiro. Check-in hotel. Free evening to enjoy the hotel neighborhood. Overnight Rio de Janiero

Day 6
Breakfast at hotel. Comprehensive guided tour of this dynamic city, famous for Carnival, Samba and natural beauty. Tour includes Sugar Loaf Mountain, the Christ Redeemer statue on top of Corcovado mountian, Ipanema and Copacabana beaches, and the Tijuca Forest. Group lunch. In the evening, a Brazilian style dinner with a samba carnival show. Overnight Rio de Janeiro

Day 7
Breakfast at hotel. Depart in the direction of Campos do Jordão. Stop at Our Lady Aparecida, the world’s second largest cathedral, and an overlook of a valley filled with metal factories.  Group lunch. Excursion to Florestal Park, an important batonical and ornithological research site. Walk through the forest with presentations on the diverse biology and botany. Continue to Campos do Jordão. This popular resort town is nestled among trees in a high mountain valley. Evening conversation and drinks with local folks covering life, family, work and politics.

Day 8
Breakfast at hotel. Depart to Mogi das Cruces Excursion through Neblinas park, a 2960 hectare private reserve in the Serra do Mar, and UNESCO “heritage for humanity” site. Group lunch in the park features local cuisine. Guided trail hike surrounded by rain forest plants, birds and mammals. A canopy walk offers an even better opportunity to see wildlife up close. Continue to Mogi das Cruces, passing through coastal rainforest, coffee, sugar cane, soybean and corn fields. Check-in hotel. Free evening. Overnight Moji Das Cruzes

Day 9
Breakfast at hotel. Travel in the direction of Campinas. Group lunch followed by a walking tour of Holambra, a well preserved community settled by Dutch immigrants. Continue to Campinas. Free evening to enjoy the sub tropical atmosphere.

Day 10
Breakfast at hotel. Visit Brazil’s fourth largest fruit, vegetable and flower market, supplying 600 tons of fresh produce annually. Group lunch. Afternoon visit to Santa Maria farm in the spectacular Cabras Mountains. Established by Antonio Manuel Teixeira in 1813, the farm features colonial neo-classical coffee and sugar cane era architecture. Excursion through the rolling countryside and white villages.
Overnight Campinas

Day 11
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to Sao Paulo international airport. Depart to USA between 1100 and 2300..
